Hazers recommendations

Re: Hazers recommendations

I have rented a Ultratec Radiance Hazer more times than I can count and I have no plans to rent anything else anytime soon. Crazy low fluid usage rate, extremely reliable, built in fan for when you don't want to hook up a larger one, DMX standard, built in control for one of Ultratec's larger fans, and not super expensive given all it has to offer. If I was going to buy a hazer, I wouldn't even bother looking at anything else.

Re: Hazers recommendations

+another big number.

Radiance is great, and it's output is ridiculous. It can probably fill your room with a good amount of haze in less than 5 minutes. If that's not available, try the Look Solutions Unique Hazer. It's particle size is a bit smaller and has a good output as well. PRG I believe rents them out, however to buy it's about twice as expensive. Both are water based.

Re: Hazers recommendations

Matt, I already voted for the Radiance but let me add something. Hazers are one of those items that you don't understand why they cost SO much money until you use one. Then nothing else will be enough for you.

I could not fathom the cost of the Radiance until I got it. Now I can't stand to think of using anything else. The fluid is expensive, but I find that I can run as a weekend warrior for a year+ (60-80 shows) and be on the same one gallon bottle of fluid. I am not shy about using it either. They are just phenomenal. I was actually looking for an oil based unit until I got this. Now I don't care. In fact I do care, because the oil will build up over time on gear, but the Radiance doesn't have that problem.

Re: Hazers recommendations

We also care, because many, many venues are starting to forbid oil-based atmosphere machines.

The guys who make the Radiance spun their company off from Lematre, and from what I have heard still offer excellent service and support of their product.

well I'm tight for cash since its the winter time... time to rebuild/repair mine and then hopefully in the summer I can buy a really nice one.

Re: Hazers recommendations

I suspect the relay is bad and there is nothing really wrong with your hazer.

I've attached the repair instructions from a user on another forum. Hope it helps and isn't too late.

For searching reference, the American DJ Haze Generator / MBT Hazer / Antari HZ-100 ( or HZ100 ) Hazer are all pretty much the exact same product.

Yep, it was the circuit board that went bad. Good thing its only $35 (shipped) for a replacement one from American DJ.

Good stuff! It's nice to see that things can still be fixed and that some companies still provide service for their products. Out of curiosity, did you contact them about service and they suggested the replacement or did you troubleshoot on your own and arrive at the conclusion it needed replacement? It's always nice to know how helpful or unhelpful companies are. I'm assuming as a JV guy you are not an ADJ reseller so was this all done direct or was it through a dealer?

This is only for my knowledge bank of 'oh shit... this _____ is broken... what to do next?'

Re: Hazers recommendations

We had a Neutron for about 1 gig and returned it. Running continuously, we couldn't get enough haze in a 2000 cap multipurpose room. We bought a REEL EFX DF-50 and never looked back. Cracking oil has it's own drawbacks, but it works very, very well.

The DF-50 ain't cheap to buy, but it's cheap to run. If one's experience is with glycol-based machines, the DF-50 will use about 1/4 or less juice for the same run time and put more lingering haze in the air.

I trouble shot the Hazer myself. There is only 4 "parts" inside the hazer; fan, pump, hazer chamber & circuit board.
But you are correct, I am not a AmericanDJ dealer. You can order parts online for most of their products (http://parts.americandj.com/Default.aspx)

I'm also considering the Radiance. In the shows that you did were fire alarms ever an issue? I know there is a chance every time with any brand but just curious how you deal with it. I plan on running mine just enough to pull a nice laser beam through the air and that's it. Not interested in any thing heavy.

Any tips anyone? Or experiences?
