Reverse, Inverse hospitality

Re: Reverse, Inverse hospitality

Fortunately the neighbors weren't home, so I didn't both have to stand full of adrenaline and explain that we were OK.

This is the first true accidental discharge I have ever seen. It would be nearly impossibly to make the gun go off intentionally, even if I'd had my finger anywhere near the trigger which I know I didn't as I very intentionally closed it with my hand on the stock, as it sets its own safety on open and close. I have tried since then.

So was that one shot at one meter on the poler response err wall.

Re: Reverse, Inverse hospitality

Just curious since I've never discharged a shotgun inside a house - did it go just through the drywall, or did it go through the OSB/plywood/bildrite/bricks/etc. too?

I had a roommate back in the 80s that was fond of drinking vodka as well as firearms. One day I came home from work and he had a very long look on his face as he sat there mostly incoherent from the stupor. I asked what the problem was. Apparently he decided to pull out his ''unloaded'' Ruger GP100 .357 and started aiming at things. The TV, the fireplace, then the cat. For some reason, he swung it way from the cat and pulled the trigger. Surprise! It wasn't unloaded. A full power soft point round went right thought the door jam, across the hall, through the neighbors wall, and ended up in the back of their refrigerator. Fortunately they were friends. So was the manager of the apt. building who confiscated the weapon from the perp. A fun day was had by all. I don't think we gave back my 'ol roomie his weapon until he moved out.

I had to quit drinking firearms. I got too loaded.

Ok Dick, I guess I should have made that last part of the sentence in independent clause for clarification by adding ''fond of'' in front of ''firearms''

And spoil my fun? It's February in MN and there's really not that much for me to do right now.

Re: Reverse, Inverse hospitality

In the army, I had a whole string of expert qualifications for just about every personal weapon we had. One of the only targets I ever missed was my first round from the 9mm when they were switching us from the 45. The trigger pull was so much lighter that it went off when I was still about 2feet above the target. Some people say that you should be surprised by the discharge but that was't a feeling that I liked.

Yeah. They ladies only believe that one once, too.

You should try it! Fun for the whole family.

This was just light bird shot, so it only went through the drywall. The great thing about shotguns is the same gun can be loaded for everything from rabbits to bear. Had it been loaded for bear, the slug wouldn't have stopped until it hit concrete another 3' beyond (the concrete is why I was aiming there).

The Beretta double action had a lighter trigger pull? What the heck 45 did it replace?

Re: Reverse, Inverse hospitality

Prior to that we were issued the M1911A1, which I remember as having a heavier trigger. I really don't remember if they had us cocking it for the familiarization.

Speaking of bad memory, I had someone asking me about the old 80's show in DC. I KNOW I did shows in the old 9:30 club, DC Space, Back Alley, WUST, and a host of other places. FOr the life of me I cannot remember what equipment we had in each of those place. I remember the booth at 9:30 club and the DJ turntables, but for the life of me I can't remember anything about the PA equipment.
