One thing I liked about the FUD forums is that when I went into a forum, even if I didn't read all of the new threads/posts, the lightbulb went out after I went back to the main page. With these new forums, it seems the only way to make the "lightbulb" go out is either read ALL of the threads, or manually mark them read.

Is there any work around with this?

Evan,

Right now it is set to "Inactivity/Cookie Based". It seems to be a little slow to catch up for me too, but it does catch up.

Alternatively you can give it a goose by using the "Forum Actions" pull down menu in the main menu bar. If this ends up being too slow we can go to dB level read marking, but we may have to move away from it when the forum grows.

I was just about to post the exact same thing... and i even noticed that in the forums like basement where i had read all of the threads, the color had still not changed, (lightbulb "on" still). I had to go back and look at every page of threads, even though none were marked read... still had to at least look at every page showing thread titles for the color to change to "no unread threads" (thank goodness this is still new and there were only 4-6 pages in each... haha).

Kind of nit-picky I thought, but I see others feel the same way I do.

Re: One annoying "feature"

Any reason you're not setting it to "Database"?

I don't know who (or what) the guys have doing the hosting, but my guess as to why they aren't using "database" is because it says it's more space and processor intensive.

EDIT: And how do i make that image appear in my message and not just as an attachment?

Re: One annoying "feature"

Speaking of the "lightbulb"... Is there any way to make the colors of "read" vs "unread" more contrasted or better yet completely different? Even with the graphic being different (but still very simular) it's not always easy to tell at a glance, especially when viewing on a portable device. Definitely not crucial and probably a bit nit picky but just a suggestion.

Those colors are also hard to tell apart for someone who's legally colorblind, like me. Maybe a really light shade of gray and bright yellow? like the light bulbs used to be?

Donnie,

You need to click "manage attachments" (where you went to upload that attachment in the first place) and then copy the link to the image you want in the message body, then put it in between
Code:
[img]...link goes here...[/img]
tags. Alternatively you can click the image icon in the editor bar just above the post text box and it will prompt you for the link and then do the code for you.

Another option is, in your General Settings, turn on Enhanced Attachment Uploading. It gives you a much more interactive interface that makes it easier to insert stuff.

Re: One annoying "feature"

I noticed this morning the number of different sites that are connected to when loading a post. Skype, fbcdn, and facebook? It is taking 4 times as long to load a post here as on the "other" forum.

Also, for some reason it doesn't take me to the first new post when I click on the thingie (which is still too small). I get the first post too often.

Rob,

It's not the connecting to multiple sites that's slowing it down. We're trying to figure out whether it's one of our plugins or something else.
