Way back in the day, when I went for my AMX certification, they gave us these handy felt-tipped styli which look like a white felt marker, with a pointed tip but no ink. They're great for use with any touch-screen console as they are sharper than my finger, leave no smudges and don't scratch the screen.

I contacted AMX and they haven't had them for years and nobody there knows where they got them. They were just a promo item back then.

Has anyone ever seen a place that makes these or sells them? The one I have is pretty worn out.

You probably don't want one of the ones that are designed for the iPad then. I used to have something along the lines of what you are describing that I used with light boards but, alas, it was in some checked luggage that got lost. I'll see if I can dig up a link to it.

I use this rubber based stylus on the M7CL all the time. It's not a hard rubber, more like a spongy rubber that collapses with real ease with touch sensitive screens. It's not as big and fat as the one you are trying to find. Here's a link to the one I'm using... it's the diameter of a standard pen and just shy of 5 inches in length.

Too bad that you couldn't call Sharpie and have them produce a line of markers without ink. That's a another whole market for them...

Hello,

just an experiment....buy a can of mineral spirits and suspent a few sharpie tips in the solvent in an old soup can ....maybe it'll wick the ink out.

Then you would need to find a way to get the solvent out of the tips, as left alone it would most likely start to dissolve the plastics on the touch screens.

On tour In Luxembourg a while back, I was using a Stagetec Aurus console in one of the venues and the house guys there had a pencil like stick (all wood) , it worked very well. I now use round tip chop sticks for both the SD9 (commonly called the red snapper, sushi anyone??) and the iLive's touchscreen....... leaves the screens immaculate and they don't scratch as they only require the lightest touch......although I guess it depends what type of screen you use this with.......
