mic stand poles without the cast iron base?

I had a mic stand break but the base of course is still fine. Is there a place that sells just the stand?

Im sure there is a place... but on a side note. The bases work great for up lighting stands.

The one in question is a ProLine, but aren't the threads standardized? Could I get an On Stage or K&M microphone stand pole instead?

The "standard" outside tube is 7/8" - 27 TPI. You might be able to find a threading die from an industrial supplier.

Thanks for that. I'll check out that option as well as considering repurposing the base.

You need to grind off the hard chrome on the outside first or you'll mess up your die. Good opportunity to add to your short stand inventory .

Yup, this is the old timers way of doing things. Break/bend a stand? Time to make a new shorty!

Also, Atlas sells the tube assembly as spare parts, but be prepared to pay nearly "new stand" price for them unless you want to order 24 of them. You save about 60% of the freight, though, without the bases.

I've been getting my odd size taps and dies from Victor Machinery http://www.victornet.com. Lots of fun stuff there, including many hard to find sizes. Prices are reasonable too.
