The 2011 Parsons Audio Expo is in just two days! It runs Thursday, November 3rd from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Dedham, MA. Now in its 21st year, the Expo sports a wide range of manufacturer exhibits, training, and talks from big names in the pro audio industry. I went last year for the first time, had a great time, and got to speak to a lot of people in a much more personal environment than the big trade shows.

This year, I'm speaking at 12:15 in the Terrace Room on the same subject I discussed in a panel at AES this year: Differences between DSP platforms and their effect on loudspeaker equalization. Immediately following my talk, in the same room, will be Rich Frembes and Dave Gunness of Fulcrum Acoustic discussing Temporal Equalization and its integration in the loudspeaker design process. If you've been to the SFN/LAB expos this is even more valuable, and as you might expect attendance is free.

Speakers include:
  • Dr. Ian Corbett (Professor, Kansas City Community College)
  • Paul Stewart (Genelec)
  • Bob Ludwig (Gateway Mastering)
  • Bill Ostry (Shure)
  • Bennett Prescott (ADRaudio)
  • Matthew Hines & Bruce Bartone (iZotope)
  • Frank Filipetti (Recording Engineer)
  • Greg Price (Waves)
  • Fran Manzella (Recording Studio Designer)
  • Dave Gunness & Rich Frembes (Fulcrum Acoustic)
  • Robert Scovill (Avid)
  • Barry Marshall (Producer and Educator)
  • Dr. Rupert Neve (Neve)
  • Dave Moulton
  • Sean Bowman (KRK)
  • Dave Missall (Sennheiser)
  • Bruce MacPherson

I just glanced at the schedule and saw that our Temporal Equalization discussion is occurring at 2:45. We will also have a pair of our RM25 Reference Monitors on hand for listening demonstrations.

Re: Parsons Expo 2011

I'd love to be there...

All the cool stuff happens when I'm busy, never fails. Was hoping to get to Scovill's Complete FOH class again... had to work. Okay, AES would be compensatory... had to work. Parsons? Never been there, but it doesn't matter... gotta work.

And in January, when we're panhandling PA for chump change and I can get the hell out of Dodge, there ain't shit going on. :(

Oh well, there are worse things in life.

Re: Parsons Expo 2011

I didn't make this clearer since I assumed it was obvious, but now that several people have asked me... there is a copy of my presentation (without my notes, but I think it is pretty clear) available on my website, http://www.bennettprescott.com.

I'll stick a copy here, too. Please feel free to hand it around if it interests you.
