Recently, I have been having a problem accessing the site when I tether my laptop to my phone. If I access from a Wifi network it seems to work fine. I get the following error page.

attachment.php

I'm have cookies enabled for the first party site, and I'm pretty confident that my computer is free and clear of any viruses. Sounds like somebody else on the Verizon network has an infection? But my phone will access the site properly while it won't do so when my laptop is tethered to my phone.

Any ideas?

Maybe Phil Graham can chime in on this.

Sorry about that, it seems like Cloudflare has a lot more advantages than disadvantages, and this is something that will come up for certain users. Once you go through that though, I don't think it will come up again.

I sure hope this isn't a permanent condition.... but this isn't the only website that seems a little flaky these days...

It doesn't seem to want to let me through. I fill in the captcha and it just sits there, doesn't give any errors or refresh the page, or even indicate that it's trying to load anything. And it doesn't come up all the time, maybe like a third of the time?

When you tether your phone, are cookies able to pass through? I'll have to set up tethering on mine to try it out, although I'm not on Verizon. (iPhone 4S on AT&T).

Also, send me a PM with your tethered IP address. Cloudflare allows white and blacklisting of any IP, IP range, and country.

John,

We will try our best to make sure no problem like this is permanent. Justice's case is the first I've heard of this on our website.

With that said, access to the forums has been denied for a tremendous amount of 'threats'. I assume most were actual spammers.

The flakiness- We hope that the uptime and speed issues will be essentially gone next week moving from Dreamhost to Linode for our hosting. With the exception of a small window during (and sometimes a little bit after) site maintenance and upgrades, essentially all of our downtime has been caused by problems with our host.

I'll post more about how we're optimizing the site next week, but with Linode, we have full control over what goes on inside our VPS, and we're tweaking it to run Sound Forums as fast as possible.

Have any other users experienced problems with Cloudflare?

Re: Problem getting to the site

Just to be clear I don't get a caprcha screen from cloudflare, but I do get a cloud flare screen saying site is not available, then suggesting that I try a direct link, that works sometimes and doesn't work others (works maybe 25-33% of time).. so not a speed issue, but denied access, while not a hard denial calling me names, more of a soft, site is not available denial, that may be a security strategy too.

This happens several times a day... Is this related to your host/server bandwidth, that should improve, or is cloudflare dissing me, that may continue happening?

Of course I can just wait and see,, but FYI

That's not a problem with Cloudflare (I hope it's not- it shouldn't be.) You're seeing that page when Dreamhost is down, which they have been for a good percentage of the last couple weeks.
