Why doesn't it work for me, and why do I get a data base error all the time?

Dunno. It works for me. I used your first name as the search string and found your posts and those by John Alan Horvath.

I'm putting in things like, Eaw La 325, Crest , I get nothing, but data base error, or title to short.

You will get a database error when using the 'Advanced Search' option. It's a problem created by us when we switched our database engines from MyISAM to InnoDB. Use the Google Custom Search option. We may end up disabling the other all together. Expect the problem to be resolved by the end of next week.

I tried the google, same outcome. Advanced and regular search, same outcome.

Are you sure you were using Google? The database error shows the vBulletin search being used. Google's search runs on their servers, not ours. It's the same as typing "site:soundforums.net searchforthis".

Dave I'm trying to search the forums, not Google web. If I use the search box, I get data base error. Google search, I put in Crest and I get a million things on crest.

David is referring to the Google Custom Search box in the upper right corner of the page. It should not return hits for sites other than SFN.
