Ashly Protea 3.6 connection issue

Hi there,
I have a new Ashly 3.6 processor that I have not used yet...
It was setup a few months ago using my old lap top computer that has now found it's way to the recycle bin.
Everything worked using the 5.11 software that was supplied with the processor.
Loaded fine, connected and communicated fine with the processor...loaded all my settings, no problem.

Now I finally have a show coming up where I will get to use my system that has the 3.6 processor.
I loaded the same software into my new computer and went to see if it worked.
The program doesn't open on the new computer (windows 8), if you click on the program while it is trying to open it tells you it is trying to connect USB drivers.
It will then fail, and tell you failed to connect USB drivers error code 126.

I removed the 5.11 software and went to the Ashly website and downloaded the newest software, version 5.12

Same issue.

I emailed service at Ashly to see if they can help but I am not sure if...or how long they take to respond to emails.

If anyone has any ideas or fixes for this issue it would be appreciatted.

Ashly service is INSANELY good. I called them when one of their install amps stopped passing audio and they had me ripping the thing apart at the venue re-seating DSP boards. These guys know their stuff!

Jim Schwenzer was the guy I dealt with, say hi for me if you call.

PS - try setting the .exe to windows 7 or xp compatibility mode, worth a shot anyway.

Well they certainly don't respond to emails quickly!
And I have no idea how to change the settings you are suggesting.
I should have kept my XR1001 crossover, want to trade anyone!?

Try and right-click on the icon and run the program with 'run as administrator'. Some programs need this option to run...

Just tried it....and that doesn't work either.
I am going to take home my work lap top today as that operates on some form of windows XP, if I can get the program to load on there it should work.
I just know a few times when I tried adding software to my work computer it has not worked because of all there security and firewalls the company has on there network.
Worth a try anyway!

I have an older 4.24 and a newer 3.6. I too encountered a problem with the 3.6.One week it was working fine,the next week I had no laptop control.Tried everything I could think of.Unit works fine with front panel controls but won't connect to laptop.So I started using the 4.24 again.I like the older software alot more than the newer software for the 3.6. With the old software you have one window open that shows and lets you do everything from that one window.With the new software you may end up with 10 windows open to try and do the same things.

Well I just got to work and downloaded 5.12 from the Ashly website to my work computer.
Everything loaded the same but then...another window opened up and it was a download for Ashly drivers.
That window never appeared on my own computer, I don't know if it was being blocked by a firewall or if it has a issue operating with Windows 8...but on my work computer with windows XP it did download driver files.

So I will be taking my work computer home tonight and see if it connects with my 3.6.

Works perfect using my computer that has XP as the operating system...
Seems that there is something in Windows 8 that is stopping the drivers from being installed.
Even though I can find the 3.6 processor in the devices on my computer, it messages that the drivers are not installed.
Then it asks would you like to locate drivers for this device and install, It tries searching and can't find drivers.
I don't get it, but it works perfect on my other computer with XP.

And by the way, still no response from Ashly......

OK, in summary... Hi Vinny, nobody ever contacted anyone at Ashly, valid email addresses are [email protected], [email protected], & [email protected], phone numbers are 800-828-6308 ext 124 & 140, we answer everything pretty much immediately all day long, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM EST, Windows has shot us in the foot once again, thanks for the report, call me & we will do what we can to help, I'm guessing we need to get Windows 8, so we may figure out what the problem is, (with their repetitive non-acceptance of our USB driver). Finally, sorry about the confusion with whatever went wrong, (make sure you spell Ashly without an E, or you emails will be bumped into the stratosphere).

Hi Jim,
I did send the email to [email protected]
It was sent Thursday April 25th at 1:03pm eastern time.(just checked my sent file)

From what I have found Windows 8 will not allow the drivers to be downloaded.
I have tried multiple times downloading direct from your site and using the disc that came with the processor.

Works perfect on my computer that has XP (but it is my work computer, not my personal computer) so I really need to get this program working on windows 8.
