$1500... what LED lights to buy?

Re: $1500... what LED lights to buy?

My recent show with 17 Chauvet SlimPar Pro RGBAs - 9 shining up at the backdrop, 8 for front wash. All the lighting in this picture is either the SlimParPros or my movers. The backdrop is 36' wide and about 16' tall.

Which light is that sitting on the speaker stacks?

Those are Blizzard Fab5's. I like the RGBAW for lighting the band. They were aimed a little low. I plan to raise the FOH and also install a T-Bar mount so I can have 2 Fab5'a per side.

Here's another pic of the same setup, sans fog. You can see that the fab5's light up the band nicely. Amber at 100% white on an oscillator, moving from 50% down to 0%

$1500 will buy 8 of the fab 5. Sounds like a side step from 3 420b's (not even considering the 575's)
I do like the color mixing inside the light, and cans (pucks?) can be is easier to deploy than bars, but the daisy's put out a LOT of light, especially the white and amber.

True enough. I'm just not a fan of the individual litebrite effect. I much prefer the multi LED's.

Re: $1500... what LED lights to buy?

I went out and looked and never found anything that made me go "ooo, gotta have these lights." So I started talking to Daisy and Longman, the 2 manufactures that supplied me with my current lights. Daisy can/will not sell lights in the USA anymore because they have an exclusive agreement with Blizzard to distribute/re-sell the lights.

Thus began some long talks with Longman and now I have 8 FacePar900 coming; 6 are 25 degree lenses and 2 are 45 degree lenses. We'll see how they work out when I receive them in a couple weeks. The FacePar900 has 7x 12w LED heads that are the 5-in-1 LEDs heads (RGBAW) in a small square case with PowerCon in & out. Longman also has a FacePar900-UV5 which is a RGBVW (V = Violet) that I considered ordering. And yes the lights come as a UL registered light (there are other approvals as well).

So, are these priced similar to the Fab5s?
5 way LEDs are what I would want next too.

In general speaker there are some initial cost savings by ordering directly from China.

But here is this:

China
Pro: Cheaper (think 1/2-2/3rds the cost)
Con: Order in "lots", no product support or warranty, no hand one prior to purchase

USD:
Pro: can purchase 1 light at a time, can demo the light, return for warranty work
Con: cost more

Max, also if I am in the area, you are more than welcome to check the lights out. I have received shipping notification and delivery ETA from FedEx on 8/07.
(I do a lot off wedding type gigs the DC & Baltimore area).

Sure. If you have a time and place you'd be willing to let me stop by, PM me and I'd love to have a look!

Re: $1500... what LED lights to buy?

I got them in and they are not in the "hotbox" style case... apparently Blizzard has a trademark/patent/copywrite on that now. So they did some with the 7x 15w RGBAW heads. The LEDs are focus and make a beam. Photos where take with my iPhone; it does a semi-auto focus thing.

Weight, the Facepar900B comes in at 4.5# and my older Daisy lights are 10#.

Bottom/Left is the new 7x 5-in-1 15w bulb and the Top/Right is the Old 36x 1w RGBAW. Pictures are of the 25 degree beams.

Re: $1500... what LED lights to buy?

I mounted 3 on the T-Bar for now; it is balances at the T junction. The single light should get to the front of the speaker stack and help when the artist are on the edge of the stage. I will have #7 & #8 floating on the down stage corners to under light everything (these are going to be the 45s). Or should I put the 45s on the far out tree and then use a 25 on the ground?
