Documenting loud bass from a neighbor

Hi Joseph, An approximate number could be useful for getting the attention of an enforcement officer, and for before/after comparisons. If you want to have specific dB numbers enforced, you HAVE to have a qualified meter, otherwise the complaint will be thrown out. Our local ordinance...

    Ethernet Cables

Hi Anthony, Cables with solid wire are generally best for longer distances, while stranded wire is more flexible. Quabbin and others make a wide variety of high-flex cables: https://www.quabbin.com/ I'm using their 5919 which coils nicely, is fairly small in diameter and very durable...

QSC Touchmix 8/16 shortcomings - can anyone add solutions I couldn't think of yet?

Hi Niels, For little digital mixers, I've worked with the TM16, XR18/MR18 and Mackie DL16S. The TM16 has some nice features, including the built-in interface/screen, and it appears to be well built. For the way I mix, the DL16S features and app are by far preferred. You can download...

Win10 and balanced signal mic output

Hi Arthur, Am guessing the 3.5mm TRS input you are using on the computer is two channel un-balanced audio, not a balanced input. Thanks and good health, Weogo

Am pretty sure Danley boxes are made in Candler, North Carolina. Am guessing that other components are a mix of USA and other countries.

    I need help

Is the noise: A) ambient noise, breeze blowing, HVAC compressor, traffic, etc., or B) electronic noise? All electrical/electronic devices, microphones, recorders, etc. have some system noise. If you are far from the noise source and you have to crank up the sensitivity on your recorder, you...

A budget studio mic for home recording?

Hi Tim, I think you are remembering the AT 4033A, with a 12 mm diaphragm, still a common Bluegrass mic. The 3035 has a 19mm diaphragm. Thanks and good health, Weogo

    Crest Pro Lite 7.5

Hi We Cec, I believe the 7.5 is rated for 60Hz AC power, not the 50Hz in Uganda, and suggest you check with Crest about running it on 50Hz. The power inlet on the amp is a standard 20 amp IEC, and am guessing a plug could be fairly easily wired in country. Thanks and good health, Weogo

    MR18

Hi Darryn, insert the Dual or Stereo Pitch-shifter FX as a delay. Better time resolution than other effects.

    Need a sub

Hi Folks, I need a sub to sit in a folk dance venue from July 6th to August 5th. Will only be run at modest levels for a total of seven events. A Peavey QW118 would be fine, or, what have ya got? Looking to rent or possibly buy; hopefully close to Asheville, North Carolina or Greenville, South...

switching between House and Monitor mixing on a digital mixer

Hi Folks, I commonly mix House and Monitors on one mixer, with one tablet. On my current digital mixers I double-assign one preamp to two channels, one for House, one for Monitors. Other than shared gain, this provides separate House and Monitor mixers. Right now, with one app, to go...

    sugar-scoop subs

Hi Folks, Subs are not my area of expertise, though I do know what I like when I hear it... A small venue I regularly work had a Danley TH115 subwoofer for a couple years. Great box, plenty low and loud for the venue. But it was a loaner and went back to the owner. For free they can get a...

    Digital mixer I would buy:

Hi Folks, Most of my shows are smaller. The last time I needed more than 18 channels was two years ago. But I still need a better quality mixer. ) 16 XLR inputs, two stereo inputs. Similar to QSC Touchmix. ) 34 mix channels. Ability to send any input to any output. This is so I can...
