    DIY a 40-20hz sub?

M-force is a cool technology, but pretty expensive. I wonder what Meyer did with the 1100VLFC, it's rated for 16-32hz or something like that.

    DIY a 40-20hz sub?

I have two kind of subs. One that drops off around 37ish Hz, one that drops off at 28ish Hz. I played around using the 28hz subs as infra subs for the other subs, sounded quite nice with a lot of useable output. This got me thinking, have anybody ever DIY'ed a 40-20hz sub for live sound use...

    Community CSX60-S2

Ohh, the very first PA system I laid my hands on was CSX60 subs with CSX70-S2 mains. Amped with Adyton XP3 amps (later sold as Soundcraft SA1000). Thought the subs catched fire when I hit their internal protection.

    Working with other peoples scenes

Having been burned by a number of scene issues over the years for all the reasons you list + some more I refuse to use any scene built by another tech unless I have time to load it in advance a couple of days before the gig and walk through it. If this isn’t an option, I roll my own.

    Micing tabla for maximum volume

Did a small tour years ago combining dance performers from India, two tabla players and a Norwegian black metal band. Put the monitors behind the tabla players and use a microphone with a tight pattern really close to the tablas. Beyer M201 or DPA2011 would be my first choices, but a B57a isn't...

250 cap venue for "bass heavy" music... will a 2x18 do it proper?

I ran two because I like extra headroom. Cheaper in the long run.

250 cap venue for "bass heavy" music... will a 2x18 do it proper?

As mentioned above, not all 2x18» are created equal. What kind of subs/amp are we talking about? That being said, I ran a small venue of similar size for years with 2x EAW SB1000z with proper processing/power. Enough headroom for regular shows with reserves available for the «bass heavy» stuff...

    Mixtender 2

iPads don't like DHCP without internet connection. It MIGHT work, might not. Go static if you can.

Behringer X32 recording via USB card

Check the tap point for your recording. It will sound thin if you record post processing and return it pre processing.

COVID related bankruptcies in the production space

IDK how it is in other parts of the world, but rates are up here by 20-30% due to lack of skilled labour. We ended our last round of restricitions on feb. 12. Promotors and producers hasn’t really gotten up to speed yet, some shows/events are happening, but a lot of them have been taking it slow...

PMA - 60; New arrayable double 12 and horn.

@Peter Morris How are things progressing with these speakers? :) Have you gotten a chance to put them to work yet? I scored a deal on a pair of Ciare PR614 horns, so I'm in the process of figuring out what to do with them.

New DIY Mid High (90deg) - AKA PM90

I'm working on DSP settings for a speaker using HF950 with BMS4590. Initial measurements suggests that the 500hz XO I target is doable in terms of dispersion, it's pretty even with the LF section there. But, I haven't done any distortion measurements...

Losing hours to new crew who are friends of the new manager doing the rostering.

In my opinion, a contract should at least specify what you’re there to do, the amount of work hours for a given time period (day/week/year etc.) payment, payment terms and what you’re expected to bring with you in terms of tools(if any). I consider headphones, talkback mic...

Losing hours to new crew who are friends of the new manager doing the rostering.

Do you have a written contract you can enforce? If not, you're probably SOOL, these things happens frequently in places with no contracts or agreements based on a handshake. I'd had that happen a few times, some people can be talked into a return to a better agreement and maybe a contract...

What amp is better for subwoofer?

Get a Powersoft amp. Use the cable loss compensator on the output to adjust for speaker cable losses. Done.
