Looking for some fairly basic 3' tall stair units. Any suggestions on a good source. Seems like everything I find online is crazy expensive.

I think about 70% of the stage stairs I have seen are home-brew, just plywood and pine construction, obviously built and used at your own risk. The other 30% are made by staging dimensions or similar companies. What kind of stage is it going on?

Scaffold and deck. I like the free standing units. I had a local guy make me one, but he said it ended up being too much work for the $, so no more...

Penn-Elcom makes a nice set of stairs with removable railings. Might be worth it if you are close enough to one of their shops.

Sico, Midwest and Wenger all make freestanding steps, I think the Midwest product is the least expensive and folds
Global truss makes a pretty inexpensive set of stairs that works at 3 ft but its not free standing

We just ordered X-Structures, Guard Rails, and 3'-5' adjustable stairs from Penn-Elcom. Great stuff.

Guessing they were around $1250. However they are steel and wiegh 180lbs. I've talked to Penn and they can make the 4 long lower rails and 4 locking plates out of aluminum, to shed about 40-50 lbs. I think I'm going to do that upgrade.
