Yes, I think all types. The response will differ per type LR/BW/BS, but it will have peaks and dips because of the delay in the high driver and the relatively large overlap in output of the drivers around the x-over frequency. I have dips/peaks of +/- 6 dB from 2 up to 10 kHz.

I have one idea left: lower the low pass on the low driver. This might result in a small dip at the x-over frequency, but if it improves the difference between on-/off-axis response I would be satisfied with that.

Pff, luckily the idea of lowering the low pass frequency on the low driver seems to work sufficiently (at least I'm happy with the result ;-) ). See figs below: top fig is without smoothing, bottom fig is with 1/6 oct smoothing. This response is eq-ed with 4 PEQs with most important -5dB @ 1kHz with low Q.

Pink-ish=onax,
blue-ish=offax ±10degr,
red=offax ±20degr.
All at about 0.5m.
