Another one of those...

Re: Another one of those...

Hi Kevin,

I was in your situation acouple of years ago. I sent out resumes and DID mention that I had a small buisness "Week Warrior" type gig. I was hired by one of the largest A/V companies in North America. I get to do audio (which I love) and other aspects of working for an A/V company. I have been employed now for 5.5 years with them. Most companies perfer someone with a good attitude and willigness to learn. We hire people almost every 2 months, but most don't stick around because they have come from some sort of audio school and know more then all the people who have been working at it for years.
The company that I work for provides training for all employees at many different levels, from novice all the way up to the most experienced. I mention this because a full time gig is always nice, especially if you have to get your feet back on the ground, or as in your situation debt.
Never sell yourself short. There will always be ups and downs in this industry, take it in strides.

All the best and welcome to the forums

Re: Another one of those...

Thanks for the tips everyone.

My boss read me like a book. I was called into the office today. He's realized I'm not happy working with him, and he's looking for someone that wants to stay around. He then got to talking about goals, and how he's taken piano lessons and goals he personally has. He noticed the gleam in my eye when talking music, and told me to pursue work there. (I'm a musician also: Bass guitar.)

He let me go, with a couple of weeks paid to find employment. He's one of the most stand up, honest people I've ever met. It's a shame it didn't work out. I stuck with it after a few weeks of rather ugly work, and was just getting the feel of things the past few weeks.

But, enough with the ranting.

I'm forming my company tomorrow as an SP. I'm not just doing service, I'm going to use my experience gained from my past work and apply it. Not letting the cat out of the bag yet, not until parts are made and offered. I now have the time to dedicate to it, before it was just weekends. No I HAVE to make it work.

-My parents also own a donut shop here locally, and the could always use the help. Ever in town, swing by New Haven donuts (that's New Haven, MI) and you might catch me there.

Goal, Goals, Goals: we should all have them.
