Mark, they've fit most of the drums I've encountered so far except for one kit.

It was a fairly new kit but had wooden rims about two and a half inches thick. (Not sure of the manufacturer.) No way of mounting anything on those drums.

Plan B was putting them on stands and going that route. It was a beautiful drumkit BTW. Wish I could remember who made them...
