Anyone Heard From Langston Holland?

Re: Anyone Heard From Langston Holland?

All good suggestions, replies in order:

TJ- I already have several fire ant farms spread out over my property, I'd prefer if they were not.
A hobby related to fire ants is to pour molten aluminum down into larger ant hills. When the alumiun cools you dig it up and you have an intricate sculpture courtesy if the ants. Unfortunately :-) the ants rarely survive the art making, but we are not running out of fire ants.
JR- I already drink more alcohol then I should, brewing beer would probably increase my consumption. I don't drink coffee any more, it brings out my (semi) latent manic attributes, and just makes me a jittery drunk :^).
Not at the same time.... Coffee in the AM beer in the PM.

Keep the ideas coming!

Both are fun, but I prefer crossbow to the noisy firearms. Still wonder where the arrow I lost when shooting at a log ended up..

Jack- We did have several annual Madrid Arroyo Guerrilla Golf Invitationals, but interest has waned and many of the golf course holes now have houses built on them.

Timo- I have hated gardening since being required to weed large garden areas as a youngster, and the desert conditions, soil consisting of coal tailings and lack of water make gardening here impractical even if I was so inclined. My better half, Bonnie, attempts to garden, but so far her efforts have not resulted in more than a handful of herbs, but some pretty flowers.
One of my former girlfriends was into astronomy, I found looking through her telescopes similar to watching paint dry. Oh, I hate painting too, in case someone brings that up.
Model Railroads- they take up too much room, and unless blowing them up, are also similar to watching paint dry. I have a load of model RC cars and airplanes for sale if anyone is interested.
Fishing- grew up in the "land of 10,000 lakes" have fished twice in my life, didn't enjoy it either time, though I was too young to drink the first time, and too hung over the second.
"Becoming king of rock/pop/all that jazz"- I attempted that several years ago, found I pretty much suck as a musician, and my voice is not that great either. That does not stop me from the pursuit though, and last night spent hours with a new toy, a TC Helicon Voice Touch 2, which no doubt will now allow my rightful ascent as the King.

Jeff- I ride bicycle daily, and my unicycle and electric motorcycle from time to time. Riding the unicycle backwards is still a goal I may someday achieve...

George- although I'd agree that bicycling is safer than mountain climbing, hang gliding and ultralights, off road cycling around here is not safer by much. One of my friends woke up in the hospital a week after a spill, he was lucky another rider found him and had him taken to ER before he croaked.

Bennett- I have built most of the bikes I own, so have less than $1500 in the four presently in stock, three of which hardly ever see any use. Anyone want a nice recumbent, cheap?

TJ- My Hawaiian shirt collection is the largest part of my wardrobe, (it may rival Bennett's) but bike shorts are for sissies :^).

JR- I have had thoughts of using a 4000 watt amp powering a sub strapped on my electric motorcycle so I could ride up silently amidst all the Harley-Davidson bikers that frequent the Mineshaft Tavern, then play back a recording of straight pipe Harley about twice as loud as their bikes, kind of an update of the playing cards into the spokes trick :^).

You're kind of hard to please. :) Stamp collecting? Zumba? Bonsai trees?

That sounds fascinating! Any chance you have a photo of this you could post here?

Could always take up long distance shooting. Or close range plinking :P

How about long-distance trail running? Northern NM is just about made for it. There's a great community of runners around Albuquerque that are quirky and pretty darn cool. It's one of the few 'extreme' sports (which you seem to have a penchant for) that doesn't necessarily favor the young bucks. The camaraderie of the events and the beer keg afterwards are quite compelling.

It's also a great excuse for spending an entire day in the woods, eating lots of junk food with impunity.

Art,

What about wind sailing? I'd still vote for water sailing, done right it can be done
relatively inexpensively especially if your handy.

Yes, cheaper than the ultralight trike and hang gliders, but requires steady winds, which seldom seem to occur here.
It has been some fun, though the kite buggy has probably been used for more miles in parades than behind the kite.
At least it doesn't take up a lot of space..
