AVForSale - FRAUD CONFIRMED

While crying about the thousands of dollars I'm STILL owed by AVForSale, I cruised over to the BBB page for their company and looked at the unanswered complaints section - http://www.bbb.org/atlanta/business-...ints#breakdown

My complaint is the oldest one at the bottom, and there are two additional complaints describing almost EXACTLY the same scenario I went through.

What emerges is that AVForSale is running a pretty straightforward scam on unsuspecting AV companies from out of state. The scam goes as follows:

AVForSale signs an agreement to sell your equipment for a 35% commission on eBay, accepts the equipment to be liquidated, proceeds to sell all the equipment. Then they send you a small fraction of the total payment owed to you (in my case, about 15%) and claim to be having cash flow issues. Most people are inclined to believe them, as I was.

They drag this out for months, and then stop responding. They now screen all their calls and have changed locations twice since I contracted with them.

While I am no closer to getting my money back, it's reassuring that I'm not the only victim.

Please avoid this company and let others know to do the same.

I get calls all the time from collection agencies that want my business. I always turn them away because I really don't need them, but maybe they would be successful in getting most of your money back for less cost than a lawyer?
They usually seem willing to take on any dollar value

Jason

A collection agency will typically take 50% off any dollar amount that they do end up collecting from anyone. In my experience, the success rate from collection agencies was near zero on their own. Once you sign with the collection agency, they WILL take that 50%, even if the debtor comes directly to you for payment.

They seem to still be out there doing business...

A couple of possible ways to get their attention, or at least warn others:

1. Post a review on their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/avforsale-59885796865/reviews

2. Post a report on RipoffReports: http://www.ripoffreport.com/

This second one will start to show up in search results if people look them up on Google.

3. Contact the GA Attorney General. I've had good luck doing that - their business license might come under scrutiny that way. Showing them the other prior history of this company, such as those damming BBB complaints will help get their attention.

Just saw your message. Along with other users, we have posted reviews explaining the situation. The page is basically inactive. At this point, all of my posts about their fraudulent activity also show up on the first page of google searches, so the damage is done. I still haven't followed through with the police or other authorities, but it's also looking increasingly unlikely that the business is still operating. I even reached out to former employees on LinkedIn to get some information but they did not respond.

I would love to see if someone could call their number, leave a message, say you're interested in services, and then find out if they are still responding to inquiries. I would do it with google voice but my number is tied to my apartment's intercom system so I can't.

Thank you. Another user did the same and did receive a response. I don't really know what to do at this point. I spoke with a lawyer who said my best bet was to leverage social media damage. If you google the company and see what shows up you would think that would work, but apparently they're still trying to do business.

Even if I won a small claims judgement (which would take a lot of time and money to accomplish from out of state), actually collecting would be nearly impossible.
