Does anyone have experience with the new Behringer P16 personal mixer system? I am considering buying one and like to hear opinions. Some people say it is better than Aviom. Thanks

Both the Aviom and Behringer have standard RJ45s. Those break in time. The new Aviom A360, Roland and Allen & Heath units have Ethercons, which force people into using better cables which last much longer, and the jacks do not break off when the cables are stepped on.
Interesting note we found during sound check. My lead singer is using the P16 with Shure PSM200 wireless IEMs. He tells me that when he uses the Left/mono output of the P16 to feed the transmitter the level is significantly lower than if he uses the headphone out to feed it. I saw a lightbulb go off and he said that explains why signal disappeared when everything was panned center. But I wonder why signal level would be so much lower out of the separate left right outputs than e headphone outs?
Only gripe so far with Behringer vs Aviom: wish the P16 input module had thru connections like the AN-16i.
My drummer is over the moon happy with the P16. We've got the input, router, and three mixers for a little more than the cost of the AN-16i. Can't beat the price.
You can do that without thru connections... You need different "insert" cables: you need 1 TRS jack, 1 TS jack and a piece of shielded cable per channel. On 1 end connect tip and ring together to the signal wire and on the other end connect the signal wire to the tip. On both ends connect the ground to sleeve. Use the TRS jack at the mixer side to connect to the inserts and put the TS jack to the P16i.With a thru connection I could use insert points from the mixer to provide inputs to the P16 system, rather than being limited to outputs only. Some mixers do not provide direct outs on all channels.
Is anyone else using the P16s noticing they're very picky about ethernet cables? Mine will occasionally show all normal signals at the mixers, but won't play audio. Switching ethernet cables fixes the issue. This has happened when cables I terminated myself and with some that were included with the mixers.
Anyone else seeing this or is it just me?
b-spec is crossover. Don't you mean a-spec?I've not noticed anything like that yet. I've seen issues with crossover cables switching inputs around on the mixers. They do recommend cables wired to the "b" spec and also shielded w/ metal ends, although the utp cables I've used in the past work fine, the shield is supposed to keep emi/rfi in/out of the signal. Perhaps some of your cables may have been miswired or wired as the "a" spec?
Declan.

When using a crossover cable channels 1-8 and 9-16 will be swapped otherwise there should be no problem...
