Greetings.

I've got a small 4 channel dimmer pack from NSI (NSI DDS 6000). It has 2 15amp edison circuits and could be used as a wall pack, etc.

All four fuses are good, and the DMX indicator lights on four channels also function when sent DMX 512. One half of the dimmer pack (2 channels) works fine, the other half doesn't.

Has anyone ever bench teched one of these? I assume they are dead simple inside, but if there's gotchas I'd like to know as I add opening it to my to do list.

Cheers,

Hi Phil,

Those are as simple as you thought. They have dual channel "firing cards" between the control board and the large chokes. My guess is that one of those is bad. You can easily swap them to confirm. A replacement from NSI is about $50, IIRC. NSI will also repair the bad one for slightly less. Their tech support specialists are always very helpful.
Also, those dimmer packs are convection cooled, so be sure to use them vertically or they will overheat.

Dave,

That's great. I'll try to get it cracked open in the next week or two.
