Does anyone have the Chauvet 4Bar Tri system? How does it perform?

I was looking at buying 2 of these systems (1 per front corner) to replace my ‘2 heavy Par575-RGBAW 36x1w can step, per side’ with something lighter and easier to set-up.

About 8-10 months ago I tried the Quad/4-n-1 LED light and I didn’t like flickness jumping between the single solid color. In the video, you’ll see what I am talking about; TH230 4n1 VS Par575 RGBAW - YouTube

I have some blizzard puck originals, and have used the q12s (thinking thats my next purchase). A close friend has the 4bars so Ive got some experience with them. I found them very good. much brighter than my pucks, which are ok but just barely enough for most of my uses. I find Im always wanting more. I find the 4 bar to be a step up from that and I dont always run it at its brightest tho it has decent punch when I do. The q12s are extremely bright.

Can you live with just rgb? do you need white or amber? Im thinking of q12w's personally for my next small rig.

I was just shopping for the same basic rig. I have not had good luck with the bottom of chauvet's line, construction wise. However, I was just about ready to buy the slimpar 56, which I believe is the same light on the 4 Bar.

I was able to do a hands on comparison of the Chauvet, The ADJ, and the Puck, and I felt the construction on the ADJ was just way above the other two. I ended up with 4 of the ADJ Mega TriPar Profiles (~$110 each) on a tree.

Apparently, this is a new light that is 5 tri led (RGB) in a slim housing. I have not seen it online yet, but its construction and feature set is great for the price I paid. I believe there is also a 7 tri led model that is similar but I am not sure if it is available yet.

I don't do anything really fancy, and my idea of a "light show" is a slow chase from one color to another, but I feel that 2 of these trees will nicely light a 20 x 16 stage.

My 4 bar's (not tri's) have been great for me. They are low profile, easy to use and pretty bright for what they are.
Love only having to run one power cable and 1 DMX line tpo light 4 lights
However, the build quality is pretty light duty.
I always case them and I'm positive they would break if I didn't. Plastic parts everywhere.

This is 4 Bar, not 4 Bar Tri, experience, so it may not transfer completely.

At $590 for the 4 bar tri, it's a tossup. Is the compact size and ease of setup your biggest priority?
If it is, they may be the right choice. If you want lights that can take a hit, you might look elsewhere.
They do have their place. Whether they fit you, I can't say.

I believe that guts of the light may be the same as the SlimPar56, but the exterior of the Slimpar56 is built much better (and is round, not square)

I'm looking at the same thing, Jay.
Let me know after you use it a bit how they work. Are they bright enough? Is the white good enough for front lighting?

I thought the white was fine for my needs but I live and work under fluorescents so my view might be skewed. I thought about adding a single incandescent par per side for some cheap warmth.


I do think 2 trees of 4 fixtures is plenty for a 20 x16 bluegrass stage.

I have some RGB tri color led fixtures that work well for wash but I wasn't happy with the whites. I now use them for stage wash and have some RGBAW units for front lighting that let me get almost any shade of white along with the colors. Next lights will be for upstage and will likely be RGBA quad leds. No more RGB only for me.
