I'm using a M-Audio FireWire 1814 with a MacBook Pro running 10.8.2.

I have two XLR line level inputs from an analog console.

In various DAWs, after ~10-15 seconds of recording or monitoring, the signal will turn into (digital) noise. Just various tones thy chance a couple times a second.

Closing the daw, unmuting/remuting the digital inputs, and restarting the daw will temporarily get rid of the problem, until it starts again 10 seconds later.

I'm using the latest drivers, however the latest one is from 2011. To me it sounds like m-audio needs to update the driver. The issue has to be in software, right?

I'm posting hoping someone encountered this before with a similar FireWire interface, and has a quick fix :). Is there anything I may have overlooked?

On gig now. If I can't sell bands recordings, I don't make any money after my hotel expenses!!

Thanks!
