Cold Weather Gloves

Gloves are a compromise between warmth and dexterity, simply because insulation requires thickness. So if you're working outdoors in the cold, you inevitably end up with multiple sets of gloves with varying levels of warmth and dexterity.

That said, I've also found that keeping your arms warm (especially down to your wrists) helps keep your fingers warm even with less insulation in the gloves.

My preference goes back to my army days, that I have adapted for cold water fishing as well.

Waterproof liner next to the skin, something like fingerless wool for close work, with easily removable mittens for warmth over the top.

+1 to the mitten gloves. I've been trying to find one that doesn't have a mitten that gets caught on things or is less bulky, but besides that, no serious complaints.
