Crown I-Tech 4x3500HD

Re: Crown I-Tech 4x3500HD

The Lake processing in the Lab PLMs is a big deal. I have no idea how Lake is doing whatever it is they are doing, but I strongly suspect that anyone on this board could do a blind A/B test on any high quality rig where nothing is changed except to switch between Lake processing and any other brand/type and the Lake processing would stand out as clearly "sounding better". I have certainly not listened to everything out there, but personally and subjectively I know this is the case with Lake vs. BSS / xta / Linea Research.

One thought that comes to my mind is what would make me want to chose this line over Lab Gruppen's 4 channel lines with Lake processing? Pricing is similar/close on both the Lab and the I-Tech.

For instance, if you own a lot of JBL boxes.

If you have an investment and clear preference for the LAB stuff then, uh, like, nothing will?

...because you own a Vertec or VTX system which require it to run V5 processing.

I certainly understand that or if you already had investment in the I-Tech line or dealer relationships. When I posted that I was thinking more on line with if a company was researching a new system or replacing a line of non-processing,high powered amps. In no way was it meant as a knock against the new I-Tech's. Just curious as how they perform compared to the Lab's and in terms of performance, what would sway your decision one way or the other.

Yeah wish they would add a model that does ~ 4 x 1200w into 4ohm.would be perfect for a biamp rack

As far as I can tell the main thing to consider is that it looks like the Crown can do 4 separate channels of processing into 4 amplifiers while the PLM Lab only does 2 into 4. Also the Crown can be bridged.
