Crown Xti front panel messages

Re: Crown Xti front panel messages

Sure, no scope screenshots, no mention of test equipment or methodology, and no mention of what type of dummy load they are using. Also, did you note that the mains voltage was 243V. We don't even have that in the US, we have 220v.

invalid data, retry.

ok, so abletronics dosn't know how to test an amp. fine. but i'll ask again - even if it is true that this bug only shows up in later "output reducing" firmware versions how do you know that this bug is part of whatever controls power output and not just another unintentional random annoying bug?

Re: Crown Xti front panel messages

LAWD! Just checked back in here and found this thread all stirred up...

And speaking of front panel readouts - I wonder what Crown was trying to tell me when I found the front panel on one of my amps looking a lot like an aquarium half full after a frog strangler blew through before I could get things covered up?!

...and one more thought regarding firmware upgrades and power losses.

What about firmware updates after that - maybe things return to normal with future updates?? I'm a little skeptical that any company and especially a company a big as Crown would have firmware updates that rob power - sounds more like a personal problem.

Re: Crown Xti front panel messages

semantics... voltage in the US used to be 110, then it was 115, now its 120. I don't feel like retyping any of this so: Mains electricity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On a related note - that's why it's kinda hard to get tubes to bias properly on certain vintage guitar amps. The old circuits were designed around 110 and plate voltages were within tolerance at 110 but now wall voltage is 120ish and that same amp is pushing the plate voltage up to the higher end of recommended plate voltage. The result is - tubes are taking a beating in older amps due to the voltage increase.

Hey Tim .boy is old post sorry...how come you sold all those xti4000s. .??? What did you replace them with... Once you new the secret. It was rendered moot.
