It really depends on what you're trying to do.
Signals can be routed between units over analog, AES or Dante but it will incur latency.
If you're setting up crossovers, where some channels are on one processor and some on others, the typical way to do this is to wire the same signal into both processors*, load the same module on both processors, route the outputs appropriately and link the two modules into a "super module."
* If you're using Dante, have the inputs on both processors receiving the same Dante channel.
I'd highly recommend reading the DLP System and Lake Controller manuals.

Can the lp4d12 and lm26 talk to each other and pass signal between each other? Are parts and support still available for the lp4d12? Still deciding which one to go with.
