I must be getting old since I had to google this to see what a torsen was. :-) Still didn't see why it means too much power...

Anyone who has ever spent time on a motorcycle appreciates that weight matters too.

If I had more money and more time, and less maturity, I'd be tempted to do something very light with say a kit-cobra plastic skin on it.

While odd, I bet something like a mazda wankel power plant would make some nice HP for the weight, who cares if burns a little oil?

Can you turbo charge a wankel? Why not? Hook that up to a CV transmission so you can just leave it up at high RPM, and you have a little screamer.

I think it's funny that a racing discussion has come out of Dick's desire to replace a 20-year old minivan with a station wagon.

I just had to take my '02 F250 through Maryland emisions (at 290000+ miles). I still think of it as the "new" truck. The one it replaced was a Ranger that I drove for 14 years and 300000 miles. I don't think I have ever gotton rid of a vehicle with less than 270000.

It is nice to know that some others are also running up some high mileagers.

My project (and daily driver) 1993 Volvo 940 Turbo is at about 275K.
The car was not happy when I got it due to massive vacuum leaks and a filthy intake.
After 5 months and about $300 it screams down the road and gets dirty looks from people with new, expensive cars.

Hey Jay, is your F250 gas, if so, what engine? If Powerstroke, manual or auto?

I have a '01 F350 Powerstroke 6-speed with only 160,000 on it, but I put 100,000 of those on it since I bought it 3 years ago. It's still just barely broken in.

I have the gas (5.4L?) with automatic. I do have the really step rear end and 4x4. My particular truck came off of a commercial lot and was rigged for snowplowing. It has pulled my 10,000 pound trailer crosscountry 8 times.

Had a '88 3.0L Aerostar, really liked it. sold it for a 2dr Exporer in '92. Would have traded that for a last year Aerostar extended length AWD 4.0L (1995ish?), brand new on the lot and a model year old, even preferred the colors, but the dealer tried to hose me ;>)
Currently trailering gear with a 2008 4wd Explorer 4dr, the takes the place of a truely gas guzzling '98 5.4L 4wd Expedition.
IF Ford would ever put at least AWD and a V6 in that Transit Connect, that would be my next new vehicle. A heavily loaded front wheel drive van just doesn't cut it in the winter.
