A friend of mine recently found almost all of his 8 JBL vp series subs are going to need to be reconed, they use the 2268G driver, looking to see if anyone had a favorite place or person for getting drivers fixed up?

thanks

Re: Favorites for getting drivers reconed?

John Mueller is your man. Friendly to chat up. I set him two JBL 18" frames the other week and had them back in 8 days including fedex ground both ways. Honest pricing too. He can do magnet rebuilds as well and recently helped me on a neo compression driver where the magnet had shifted. He's familiar with the JBL product and even keeps kits (factory and aftermarket) in stock for some of their drivers. He's not far away from you so fedex ground is probably a one day thing.

I'm not sure if he takes credit cards. He's trustworthy enough for me to put a blank check in the shipment.

Mueller Speaker Service - Reconing Specialist

Not an elaborate webpage, but has his phone number. I have the feeling he's a sound provider as well so if he's on a gig he always calls right back.

Ditto on John Mueller. Been reconing for almost 40 years. JBL,EV etc warranty station. Former Clair Brothers guy. Does excellent work.Has fixed speakers other companies couldn't or wouldn't do.Even his former boss,Roy Clair has used him to fix some odd ball stuff.I agree with John Neil.Mueller is totally trustworthy.Have used him for many years.

Graham,

I send clients to Charlie Tappa at Pro Sound Service for recones. His company has done a very nice job on JBL 2242H drivers, among others.

Re: Favorites for getting drivers reconed?

John Mueller has been doing my recones for 35 years. Everything everyone else has said is true. He and his wife Sherry are absolutely the best there is. I've been to their shop and you could eat off the floor. It's like a hospital operating room. John is absolutely meticulous. I could tell literally dozens of stories about how he has gone way above and beyond to resurrect speakers to like new condition that others would have tossed in the trash bin. One story - about 15 years ago I had a massive failure that took out (8) 21" subs in my system. I called Turbo and they overnighted the kits to John. I loaded the speakers in a van and drove from Richmond, VA to Richland, PA. John and Sherry had their bench cleared and were standing in the door waiting for me when I arrived. I dropped the speakers with them and checked into a nearby motel. They worked all day and into the night reckoning those speakers. And believe me, Turbo 21s can be a bear to get right. I checked out of the motel the next afternoon and picked up 8 fresh recones and headed back to Richmond. I didn't miss a single gig.
