Found a big one

Re: Found a big one

I want to say an SSL E series but there are some things I can't see so I'm not sure, though there was no definitive layout of these things as they were custom made G

Not an SSL of any kind.

Actually in trying to find the console in your photo (without much success I might add) I came across this: the largest console in the world. It's a Harrison MPC4D. Over 30ft long and 384 processing channels.

Ahh, this beauty. This is in the main dubstage at Universal. If you would like to see a cool little tour of their audio team facility (which is gorgeous) check out this 5 minute clip: SoundWorks Collection | Exclusive Video Profiles of the Sound World » Blog Archive » Universal Studios Audio Tour

The MPC4D is a lovely console and along with the Neve counterpart (the DFC series).

A little bit sad that all of these large scale digital consoles are doing away in favor of worksurfaces like a Avid D-Control, but the workflow is soooo much faster with having all your tracks, processing, and automation all in one format/place(s..... across the multitude of Mac Pro's).

That being said I love mixing on a D-Control.

Hello,

That's the Harrison Console at Universal Studios in Universal City, CA. 528 inputs, Automation on every channel and buss. It's used in Movie Post.

Re: Found a big one

well, i know it's not a europa. that console was stupid big for a live desk, but it still wasn't this big...

i admit that my curiosity on this mystery is reaching a [low grade] fever pitch...

Hello Brian.

Don't want you to blow a gasket! :)

It IS a Soundcraft desk, like someone else guessed - but I couldn't find a model number on it. My hint from before was aimed at the Soundcraft manufacturing facility in a town called Potters Bar.

What I do know is that it has fader and mute automation.

Someone is getting a crazy big desk in their project studio LOL. It's been sold off to a private party, but I don't know to whom. I have heard a unconfirmed hint as to the price. I'm guessing it almost cost more to ship it from England when it was first bough :D

Hello,

Looking at the Console in the picture... the sides reminded me of a Soundcraft, but, I don't recall them ever making such a model...

and, I'm sure a lot of others thought the same... except of course the one poster that had named it.. I still don't recall that model ;o)
