Grampa is getting older and crankier

Re: Grampa is getting older and crankier

I work several talent show like events in our school's auditorium every year. I don't have much to work with in terms of the system - especially as a pair of 2-ways without subs - but accommodating the "DJs" is usually a simple matter of plugging them into ST2 on the ol' GL2400, bumping up the low knob, turning down the 2.5 knob, occasionally pulling stuff out of the GEQ, and then making sure nothing breaks while waiting for my paycheck sipping on hot coffee. Since the amps will clip about 6dB below the program rating of the cabs I barely have to worry - just keeping them out of clip so as not to send them the trusty old square knockoff.

As a side note that sounds wayyyy to retrospective for 17, but it was fun to write.

Exactly Ivan. I have to use lots of subs because mine don't reach down as low as the Danley subs you use. Its not that I am going particularly loud but that 30db bump you are talking about happens below 50hz for me to just be able to reach the material between 30hz and 45Hz that this music is known for. As long as that super low synth bass is shaking the walls properly the DJ's just smile and spend their time focusing on the crowd rather than trying to push the system.
