I have a Yamaha EMX5016CF powered mixer and I'm currently using Yamaha passive speakers utilizing the internal power amps (main & monitor) in the mixer. We play a venue that has powered mains and monitors already in place. They have a mixing board, as well but there are always 2 or 3 bad channels on it. The last few times we performed there, I used my mixer, running from the Stereo Out (unbalanced, line level) jacks to the powered mains and the Aux 1 (unbalanced, line level) to the powered floor wedges. Problem is, when I use these outputs, the onboard graphics are no longer usable so I have no way to control feedback except by compromising the eq on the input strips. Can I connect graphic equalizers between these outputs on the mixer and the powered speakers?

According to the block diagram in the manual, the ST outs are balanced and are after the GEQ. The GEQ on this board isn't great, so adding another in line is reasonable.

Just hook the external EQ to the mixer output as you do now, then use the balanced or unbalanced output of the eq to go into the existing mixer. Works great...

From the output of the eq back into the mixer or powered speakers? If back into the mixer, where? I don't believe that can be done on this mixer.
There seems to be some conflicting information available for your mixer. The specs on the product web page say that the outputs are unbalanced, while a previous poster says they are shown as balanced in the block diagram.
I think the poster who suggested plugging into the existing mixer meant the venue's mixer, not yours. Then you wouldn't have to run the long cables to the speakers, just route your sources to the correct outputs on the venue's mixer.
So, connect the outputs from your mixer into equalizer inputs. Connect the equalizer outputs into the venue's mixer or the powered speakers, whichever you prefer. If any of these are unbalanced use short cables on them.

No, the ST OUT's are shown as unbalanced in the block diagram too. Regardless, the EQ occurs before the Master Fader, which occurs before the ST OUT jacks. Go ahead and use the built-in EQ.
