Harford Sound 118HP Subwoofers

Re: Harford Sound 118HP Subwoofers

I don't know Tim, it's perfectly Clair to me.... lol
Evan what happened to change the direction of the grill pattern, did you cut a couple grills on the opposite grain of the steel roll... My OCD is kicking in... twitch, twitch

Shane,
I didn't realize they were different until after I had them cut and in place.

...And I have no idea what you're talking about with the amp racks. 8)~8-)~

Hey Evan,

Can you turn up the smoothing on your Smaart traces? I think I can still see a little response deviation!

P.S. Get V7! It is way easier to run.

Looking at the screenshots I just thought: "What an oldschool guy Evan is"

On the smoothing I agree, on the version, well, V4 obviously does the job. I personally love V7 over V6 for the user interface.

Re: Harford Sound 118HP Subwoofers

If they walk, then they are not braced enough.
Unless speakers are horizontally opposed in the same box, any lightweight high powered sub (regardless of how well braced) with heavy cones on a smooth surface will tend to walk, as the kick drum and bass signals are generally not a symmetrical waveform, and cones often go one direction a bit easier than the other.
Each kick beat can be like a little hammer knocking the sub forward or backward, or at a diagonal, if the cone is not centered in the cabinet.
Reverse the polarity of the PA, the subs will reverse walking direction. Fun to watch!

No, they're just light enough with enough oomph to push themselves across a tile floor. It's impossible to keep them from walking on a smooth surface. I had 4 of my subs ratchet strapped together with monitors on top of them a few weeks ago... By the end of the night, they had moved a solid foot from where they started. ...And I've had the same experiences with just about every sub on the market.

The obvious solution is just to flip polarity of the entire PA every other song.

Evan, Bold Audio BA118 is one of the most powerful single 18 inch sub on the planet, it is 41kg and it does not walk on a smooth surface. So you should try and put some better feet for a start, or make a rubber skids like we did so the grip is much much better..

Maybe you need to send Evan 8 or a Dozen of them and see if he can make them walk across the floor!!!!!
