Infrared Code Emitter

I'm looking for a little box (think stick-on) that will transmit an infraded code when it sees either a contact closure or voltage. Or maybe an rs-232 code. Could be several but I only need one. Sounds simple enough, but I can't seem to locate anything without going to an unnessesarily complex system.

Also looking for suggestions for a similar device that will output an line level digital audio message with a contact closure. I have several ideas for this one but I'm always open to new/better ideas.

Thanks!

Re: Infrared Code Emitter

Not exactly. I need a little box that learns the IR and fires it out to an emitter when it sees a dry contact closure. I've got IR disto in place already.

Re: Infrared Code Emitter

For the audio, do you need one device playing one message, one device capable of playing any one of multiple messages or one device capable of multiple channels of audio? Do you need play only with automatic stop or play/stop or play/pause/stop? You might want to look at some of the products from Alcorn McBride (http://www.alcorn.com/audio-controllers/) and Mackenzie Labs (http://www.macklabs.com/dmr.html).

I'm a bit curious as to the application. It sounds like it might be a kiosk, museum or display type application and my experience with those is to avoid IR control if at all possible, the lack of any communication or status from the control device can be problematic in such applications.

Thanks, Jason. I'm a Xantech dealer, too. I thought I'd gone through everything on the list with them! Still a bit more than I need, but that will do the job.

Brad- McKenzie! I've been trying to think of their name for a week! I'm using it for a simple access control breech announcement. My initial thought was that I wanted a time/calendar conditional announcement for 28 doors. Now I'm thinking that I should use a contact closure from the Hirsch panel (letting it take care of conditionals) to a simple digital audio announcer through a self amp'd speaker at each door. The IR request is for completely different project.

Re: Infrared Code Emitter

Just in case anybody was following this thread, this product was suggested for the I/R request on another forum:

Exactly what I had in mind, but as it's a new product, I guess I couldn't have seen it before.

Glen, thanks for the Gilderfluke suggestion.
Jason, yeah that thought has crossed my mind too. Still thinking about remounting a board from a URC with a PS and a barrier strip in a box. Total cost: $15?
