JBLPRX button settings, definitive answer

Re: JBLPRX button settings, definitive answer

It must be the same, the "1" annotation points to the Main / Monitor switch, and the info for "1" is called EQ Boost / Flat. There isn't a separate button anywhere for "Boost" either.

Chris

Yes - I mentioned that. It is only labeled Main/Mon on the (2) models that have a wedge shape (12" & 15"). The button labeled Boost & Flat (600 series) or Boost & Normal (700 series) is on the 625, 635 models.

Re: JBLPRX button settings, definitive answer

Boost and Main is obviously the same, monitor is flat because the proximity to the floor in wedge position causes a bass boost.
It is confusing the way they describe it in the documentation, but ......

For the 600 series, this is what I believe as well.

But the buttons are reversed on the 700 series, i.e. button In is "Normal", Out is "Boost", and on the wedges, In is "Main" and Out is "Monitor". That does not make sense to me.

Re: JBLPRX button settings, definitive answer

This whole issue would disappear if they'd just have used a recessed switch appropriately labeled. That and the wedge angle are the 2 things that have me scratching my head about otherwise good cabs.

I've never seen the 700 series in the flesh, but it sure seems like they've gone all out to cause confusion with that series.

Did I read some newspost about JBL hiring a former Microsoft and Apple product design strategist to oversee the design-process of product updates?

Kind of like, which speaker terminal is "positive" on what speaker?

If you have a positive attitude and are motivated, they both are!
