M32 vs X32 thoughts

There is no comparison. They sound much different. I've heard of many problems with x32 (even had one lock up on me 4 different times) but never heard of any with M32.

You have heard of problems because there are tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of X32's out in the field being used by users, many of which have little to no experience with the equipment. There are far less M32's out in the world, and those that are out there are likely in the hands of users that at least have a clue and are less likely to abuse their gear. (not saying your issue was to abuse, but many are)

My post was talking about the X32 Core vrs M32C, not other models that actually have preamps. I can not see how the M32C version could possibly sound much different. There is nothing there that IS different to make it sound different, except the front panel, which last I knew makes no sound. I would expect the Pro mic pre's on an M32 console would sound better, I have however read several reports that say the sound is not so much better that it makes a gigantic difference. There are other things on the M32 consoles that do still make them more desirable, probably the improved pro faders being the biggest of those. Also, lets not forget which desk came first such that it's features and firmware capabilities could be adjusted upward for future models to benefit. I think the X32 was around well over a year before the M32 ever hit the market. That made a lot of 'beta' testers out there to help perfect the M series debut.

I kind of wish they'd make a core type box with 2 analog inputs on it - just for use as a rack mount usb recorder with some dsp. Other uses would be gravy.
