We had a bad day one day when bringing in a Profile from a 10 degree F truck to a 70 degree F theatre. Avid support blamed it on mosture condensation inside the multipin connectors etc and recommended them.

They also seemed like a good idea for under the tarp at night during spring and fall festivals.
