Midas Pro1 Tutorial

Finally got audio. Yeah! Now I have to start preping for my colonostopy tommorow so I won't be playing with it much tonight!

You will have to tell us what is more fun :)

I just took delivery of a Pro 2c and a Pro 1 (Pro 2 coming). I'm not yet 100% on them but I used one for a few weeks for a demo.

If you have any specific questions drop me a PM and I'm sure I can walk you through it while sitting in front of my desks.

Re: Midas Pro1 Tutorial

I just mixed my first show on a Pro 2. The venue had just installed it, so the house engineer was unfamiliar with it as well. They didn't tell me it was going to be there so I didn't do any prep work. In fact, he messed up saving my show and I had to start over during the 20 minute changeover. Even my house and monitor graphs were wiped. Oh joy!

After getting back on my feet, I really enjoyed the sound of the console, and the layout was intuitive. The one thing that really bugged me was getting things to land back on 0. I suppose this issue was made worse since I was zeroing out previous settings as well as dialing in my settings, but on most digital consoles I have worked with eq gains, graphic sliders, etc. go back to 0 easily. On Yamaha I like that the knobs move in .5db increments and you can press and turn for finer adjustments. On Avid they move in small increments but easily land back at 0. I can't remember how it works on Digico but I don't remember being bothered by it.

Is there a way to use a mouse with a scroll wheel on a Midas Pro and have the wheel move in 1 or .5 db increments like it does on an Avid?

Re: Midas Pro1 Tutorial

Jason/Randy-

The Midas consoles have 2 gains. The stagebox gain, and the "digital" gain. Use the stagebox Gain to rough in your signal, and then use the digital gain to fine tune things. The digital gains moves in very small increments, just like you want.

Brian Bolly stopped in Friday to give me some tips. He's a nice guy and really knowledgeable about the Pro1.Thanks Brian.I have the rep comming up Tuesday morning so more training is on the way.If someone writes a book called" Midas Pro Series for Dummies ",I'll buy it.

Randy....

I hope the guy they send you is better than the one they sent to my local shop. He was all set to tout the bells and whistles, but I asked him how to turn it on. He powered the console down, then up and couldn't unlock it. I think it's important to start at the beginning with these things.......

Re: Midas Pro1 Tutorial

I think most of it stemmed from there being other scenes on the desk already, and Randy may not have started with a totally blank slate for some things. In addition, it was looking for a DL251 stage box that wasn't attached, which was causing the red status light. Once we told it that there wasn't supposed to be one attached, all was well as far as that was concerned.

Re: Midas Pro1 Tutorial

I've been getting alot of help from you guys here on the forum and from Midas. Jason Kelly,Midas UK directed me to Kyle from Midas USA.
I had some questions which I e-mail to Kyle last night. He got back to me very quickly. His e-mail said " call me" and gave his number. This was after 10pm eastern time.I was thinking he meant call me in the morning, but he meant call me now! He said he gets calls at 1am from someone on the road or at 6am from a church volunteer that has a problem. He told me that's what he's here for. I am so impressed with Midas' service. Originally,I was up in the air about wether to buy an A&H GLD or the Pro1. I have no doubt I made the correct decision, especially after seeing a few posts from A&H customers about customer service not getting back to them.
