Noise from Yamaha DXR12, potentially due to cold weather?

At an outdoor NYE show (about 40 deg F), one of my four Yamaha DXR12 speakers emitted a loud, continuous noise at power on (sounded somewhat like white noise). No configuration of switches or manipulation of level knobs had any effect, even after multiple power cycles. Power came from the same stage stringer as the other monitor, multiple backline amps, an UPS that indicated a proper input voltage, etc, so I'm pretty sure that wasn't an issue. Fortunately, I only needed two so I replaced it with a different speaker and the show went on.

Today, I powered it back on after being in my house for several hours, and it works perfectly.

Has anyone experienced something similar? I guess I will move the speaker to the garage for the night and see what happens in the morning, although the forecast is not as cold as NYE until Monday night.

How successful will I be getting warranty service from Yamaha on an intermittent problem, one potentially only triggered by cold? The speakers are about a year old.

40F isn't particularly cold, and I would expect any cold-related issues to disappear rapidly as the unit warms up (a matter of minutes or less). My guess is that the issue is mechanical in nature, and some internal connection is intermittant. Handling the speaker likely made things worse and then better.

Unfortunately, the noise was incredibly loud so I couldn't leave it on for more than a few seconds due to the annoyance factor and possible speaker damage.
