I am not at liberty to speak much about how they should be picking up sounds but I am not convinced at how they do it either.
There is a very thin line of getting garbage audio with picking up real manifestations of something from the afterlife.
They use some things that resemble those radiation level detecting hardware that beeps when there is some presence around.
