Outline GTO - Any Experience?

Re: Outline GTO - Any Experience?

I have not received my rig yet and was just hoping for others who may have heard the rig...
And if you get bad "reviews" are you going to send it back?

Or are you just looking to others to reinforce your purchase---------------------------.

In my opinion-it is a little late to asking for opinions-AFTER the purchase. That should have been done ahead of time. But that may just be me.

Re: Outline GTO - Any Experience?

Geez, all I freakin wanted to know was there is a rig out there touring, has anyone heard it, NO I'm not going to send mine back, why are some of you just rude, if you got nothing to say that is helpful maybe don't post...

I wasn't trying to be rude.

Just an odd "sequence of events" for such a large purchase.

Or maybe to put it another way-why DID you purchase it? Obviously you had no reviews. Did you get a chance to hear it in a way to make a decision?

Or maybe something we don't know about.

Re: Outline GTO - Any Experience?

Yep, maybe it's just me it feels like there's been a slow increase in terse comments over the last year. Maybe we're all getting that little bit older and grumpier. I know I am. Just ask my wife. :-)

Maybe a restart on a new forum would help, where we all have to start from scratch again.... Oh, we already did that.

Look, this hasn't got anything to do with the purchase, I was just wondering if anyone has heard it, what is so freakin wrong with just seeing if anybody out there caught it on tour, I like hearing about equipment, even yours Ivan....

Yeah-and there are times to "tell it like it is". This whole " everybody is equal-everybody has the same abilities-lets all be nice to each other- politically correct crap" is part of what is wrong with todays society.

Where is Paul Klisphs "bull shit" button these days? OH yeah-I did get one from Bill Whitlock at Infocomm last year-but without the words-just the symbol kinda. So even that has been neutered.

Sometimes the "man behind the curtain" has to be exposed. You simply cannot believe everything that is said. The way this happens is for truthful discussion-and not trying to "be nice".

You can still "be nice" (ie not insulting) and point out lies or misconceptions-but in many cases this is frowned up-because some people don't want to make others mad.

Sorry for the rant-and this is not based on this discussion or the content-except for Geri's comments about the original LAB-where some much more "insightful" discussions went on.

Kinda like the difference between the US version of Pro audio review and the ones from overseas. In the US version-everything is great (because they want to sell adds).

Overseas they take the units apart and post photos of the insides-do actual measurements/specs and really "review" the product.

That is the way it is supposed to be. But over here-it is all "nice and rosy" and the only thing wrong with a product is the color or the shape of a knob etc. How about the fact that a product doesn't come close to meeting the advertised specs? To me-that is important! Does it do what it says it should? has anybody ACTUALLY CHECKED or MEASURED it?

We really need more of that of "review" going on. How about something besides " The speaker is rated for 139dB max output-I did a gig with an acoustic duo for 60 people and it worked great". WELL I HOPE SO! But how close can it actually get to the rated 139dB? And LISTENABLE! That is what people want to know. Or a low freq rated at 30Hz. HOW LOUD is it REALLY at 30Hz-WITHOUT the large recommended boost? Or can it do max output at 30Hz with the boost applied? That is important stuff!-at least to me.

I will stop now before I really piss off some people---------------------------------

The thing is, no matter how many times you "start over" people are who they are... people remember who other people were on the other message boards and who they met in person.

These things will always carry over, regardless.

Personally, I like the raw unfettered truth. I may not be happy about it, but at least it is the truth.

I know, we'll start a new forum where you have to use a fake name! Not only that, it has to be someone else in the industry, and someone you have never met (that ought to keep it interesting).

Re: Outline GTO - Any Experience?

Or maybe people should just stop acting so offended by others who simply disagree with them or question them that they resort to name-calling and baseless accusations. I know, I'm dreaming.

No one said it was wrong. Ivan does have a point. It is a bit unusual to ask for reviews on gear you've already purchased. That does bring up the question - did you actually hear the line array before purchasing?

And you would have to post like some music albums "in the style of-------------".

NOW you are gonna piss some people off!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't mind people knowing how I feel and I "tell it like it is" I don't like to "sugar coat" anything. Sometimes the truth hurts.

But I would much rather know where somebody is really coming from-than to try and guess "which person" I am talking to today.
