Hi Guys,
I have a large number of little 250W Par 38's sitting around with no bulbs. Rather than replacing them with incandescent bulbs, I thought LED would be worth considering, but am having a hard time finding a Par38 drop in replacement with similar output in an LED version.

Has anyone come across a good source for these? Dimmable would be nice, but is not critical - I'd mostly use these in fixed situations for ambient lighting etc.

Thanks
Jeff

How many lumens are the bulbs you are trying to replace? From memory, I had some 300w flood bulbs that were actually dimmer than 120w or 150w (can't remember) actual entertainment PAR bulbs. Philips makes great LED PARs and have ones up to "120w replacement" (19.5w actual): http://www.homedepot.com/p/Philips-...PAR38-LED-Flood-Light-Bulb-E-423426/203321688 that are 1200 lumens which may be enough, or not.

Dimming requires special dimmers - typical tree pack dimmers won't work - they will flicker. You need either a purpose-built LED dimmer like this: http://www.dfd.com/dmx8dim.html or something else qualified for LEDs.

I ended up finding some bulbs that are 30W LED, this was the highest wattage LED Par38 bulb I could find at a sensible price. Found them on ebay, I ordered 8 just to see how they do before I get any more - they are supposed to be about 2000 lumens.
