Buy a set of Grado headphones so you have an idea what proper transducers sound like (of course you then have to find some decent sounding CDs).

You can head over to the REP forums under J Hall. There is (finally) a new IMP you can download (20 zipped tracks of 24/48 multitrack audio) of a song and mix it if you'd like.
