Pro 2 -or- Pro 2C, that is the question.

95% sure I am going to buy one or the other of these consoles to add to our inventory for next season. Looks like the ONLY difference is 8 more faders on the Pro2. If it were just for me, I would get the Pro2C, but of course, the goal is to make BEs happy. To touring guys that are familiar with these desks and would find them adequate for your needs, would you have a strong preference for the 2 over the 2C? TIA for your thoughts.

Agreed. The more concurrent channel access the better. Sometimes I wish we had opted for the MixRack with the Profile surface instead of the SC48 just for the extra fader bank.

Steve -

Not a touring guy but smile at them often enough...

The Pro2 = SC48 in regards to faders. We hear enough people complain about the fader count for our SC48 vs our Profile when doing monitors, that I don't think a BE will be happy with a Pro2C unless they are very comfortable on the desk already and also have a show that conveniently fits into the 8 bank arrangement.

While I feel fine mixing FOH myself on the Pro1, and therefore of course the Pro2C, I wouldn't expect a band engineer to feel the same way.

And while I would also feel fine mixing MON on it which a real soundcheck, it would take me some time and a damn good MON template to be able to do run-n-gun monitors on the Pro1 or Pro2C. The POP groups help but having those faders there is a big deal...

I say Pro2.

I am trying to decide between:

(1) Pro 2 and (2) Pro 1 or (1) Pro 2, (1) Pro 2C and (1) Pro 1
OR a Pro 2 and some Yamaha CLs... Waiting for the final word on pricing...

Not doing large tours, but have been in front of the Pro2 and being a BE it is really nice to be able to create POP groups larger than 8 without banking.... also SUPER nice for MCA navigation. Pretty rare that I am mixing more than 16 elements to a single wedge.... but I am often putting more than 8.

Completely different spin – you don’t feel cool standing behind a Mixwiz, but standing behind an XL4 you feel like king of the universe….size matters 8O~8-O~

BTW a standard drum kit with a top and bottom snare mic is 9 channels, that’s the problem with the Pro 2C, only 8 mix faders without having to scroll. For the price it’s fantastic but when its not your money …. its almost moot asking.

Re: Pro 2 -or- Pro 2C, that is the question.

I work at MIDAS,I use the PRO2c when I train or demo, people seem to "get" the lay out quicker.
The PRO2 works for people that are into advanced navigation of the desk.

same inputs, same software, one just has 8 less faders. If you know how to get around the desk, 8 less is never a issue.
