I was possibly the first in NH to adopt the k12s into my inventory. I was there to take the 3 pair off the truck when they came into the local banjo center equivalent. I took them home and decided to give them a quick listening test, very simple setup, ipod into the back of the speaker into the two 1/4 inch jacks.
One of the things that i first noticed when unboxing them was the signal diagram of sorts on the back, I found it quite helpful as it makes it easier to understand what goes through what. I took a pair of xlr's out of the direct out of sorts into the other k12 I had setup. First test, all settings flat, so no ''vocal boost'' or DEEP. Not too bad, sounded about like I remembered it at low levels, clean and smooth. So now it was time to crank it up a bit, about halfway up and one thing i notice immediately is how much it doesn't sound like a plastic speaker, it reminds me more of the HPR's I had grown to like enough but always left my back in a fair amount of pain. Now remember that here I have everything set at ''flat''. I decided to go into DEEP and WOW. The box started thumping along. At this point I am impressed, the box is running along smoothly, sounds like i have a sub under it. I push the box up to I would say about 75 percent power, still sound decent and is hitting hard, another 10 percent and thats when I felt the box started to struggle, the top end seemed to be falling apart a bit. I think I should mention that at this point I am well above the noise level I would ever need out of these boxes, If I needed this much I would bring out a larger rig
Overall reaction, these are a true SRM/eon killer. I know that there is better out there but at the time I bought the boxes, there wasn't for the money.
After at least a year and a half and easily 200 gigs or rentals on the boxes, they are holding up well. I am happy with my purchase and bought another pair 6 months later. They fill the dry rental/small sos/monitor need that I have and as far as I am concerned are exceptional for their size and weight.
