Quite a gun

Re: Quite a gun

Heheheh.......I have held something very very similar that is used by the police up here (our version of SWAT- The ERT). Dayjob is building police vehicles, and we just finished up a build on a 2011 Ford Expedition (total covert, btw. Pretty cool truck that you would never guess holds all sorts of nifty stuff). Built an adjustable gun tree between the front seats to hold their crowd pleaser/door knocker on the back side and a pair of HKG36C on the front side for the front seat officers (another pair of butt plates and hancuff style locks are between the rear seats for another pair of G36's.

Once fully equipped, our version of the G36 is very eerily similar to the Halo main gun, strangely enough. The officers had a good laugh when I pointed it out. Really nice optics and yes, the red laser dot is pretty freaky (and real).

How the hell can one expend that much energy on one direction without any recoil at all ?.
Have the makers come to a special arrangement with Newton ?.

The Russians have created a fully auto AK47(74?) that shoots the 5.45 round with no recoil whats so ever. Some how the receiver and but stock are separated. Pretty cool.

Hello,

I think Robert is close...but, a bit mixed up on the Russian Models. The AK-47's calibre is 7.62.

The AK-74 models...all of them,( AK-74, AKS-74, AKSU-74) handle the 5.45 round. The two main factors in having a low recoil in this weapon is the large muzzle brake and the round itself.

The M16 is a better weapon than any of the above. While it's a smaller calibre (5.56) than the AK-47, it travels further, is more accurate and the weapon's cycle rate is higher.

Cheers,
Hammer

The AK-47, and I believe the AK-74 have always been full auto. You've mostly seen semis because that's what can legally be imported. There are some auto AK-47s in the states but they command an extreme price ($10,000+ for a gun that is normally $400).

The AK-74 has low recoil because it fires a light round. It is also gas operated, like the -47 and the AR-15/M-16/M-4. A good brake can help a lot, but at the expense of increased noise to the sides and rear of the weapon. In the end it comes down to which has more weight, the gun or the bullet.

Re: Quite a gun

I couldn't stop laughing at 1:46 with the bit about the breaching choke "worst case scenario, you can always poke someone with it and fuck their shit up" ... this guy is indeed a "professional Russian" as he later claims. Good comedy.
