Recording/playback software

I'm looking for a recording/playback software with ASIO support that I can use with Dante virtual soundcard. What is the preferred, if any, software for a live environment?

I have a Lenovo laptop with Win8, looking for something that will handle at least 16 channels.

+1 for Reaper.

I think I paid $60 for it. They have a free version, but I was happy to support them since I make a good amount of money using their software.

It's not at all a hog on system resources. I've never had a crash with it.

I've used Reaper since the beginning and had NO hassle with it at all, it is about the most device agnostic DAW around and it can run from a USB key drive without installing anything onto a computer, useful if you have a computer mishap or there is a machine already tied in to whatever system you're using.

I use REAPER also.

I do NOT do a lot of audio editing, so the price is definitely right and the features are fantastic!

ASIO support
VST plugin support

Just as an aside those of us who use Reaper for live recording it is possible to record onto 2 disks at once if you want extra redundancy, haven't tried this with a laptop but it does work in a tower style pc with 2 drives in the case. G
