Hi All,
A fader calibration failure :?~:-?~:???: requires a closer inspection of a fader in my DM1000. I downloaded the repair manual but there is very little in describing the removal of the fader itself. Anyone here done this before? Before I go disassembling it, I'd like to here from anyone who has done this. I have the replacement part but I think a compressed air blow out might solve the issue before I go desoldering.

Best Regards,

TW

I think it's the same as most other Yamaha boards. Google LS9 fader replacement, it should give you a pretty good guideline. My 01V96, DM2000 and LS9 all sort of opened and came apart the same way. It's pretty quick and easy to work on, just lots of ribbon cables to plug and unplug.

Hey Tom,
Where did you get the replacement fader? I have the part number as: V6226100 ... but can't find them online, other then from Thomann and other European parts sites. Is there someone local that you found had them in-stock? I'll be calling around on Tuesday to ProTech and a few other shops, but thought you might have a good lead. I've been putting off fixing an 01v96 with a bad fader for too long... luckily it doesn't get out much anymore anyway.

Thanks!
Steve

I bought my 01v96 replacement parts (faders and wheel) directly from Yamaha. Pricing was very reasonable too.

Re: Replacing a Fader on a Yamaha DM1000

Yamaha Commercial audio told me the PCB is double sided and isn't a very easy repair without the correct tools. They recommended vacuuming the fader. If that doesn't help, the recommended replacing the fader. Two different techs said they would send repair details via e-mail. I Never received any. Probably to protect authorized repairers they didn't. Anyway, I'l crack this thing open and see if it's really that complicated. I'll report the outcome...
