Back to the basics, is this for a temporary system or an installed system?

I've designed systems for a couple of arenas used for rodeos and the systems were a bit more complex than that seemingly described in terms of not only being 'concert level' in the arena but also being able to call classes and events to selected BoH areas, being able to cover the arena floor while also having acceptable gain before feedback with a wireless mic on the arena floor (usually a dedicated 'mix minus' mix), maybe another 'mix minus' zone for the pens, incorporation of ALS to cover the large audience area and so on.

The more we know about the situation and what you are trying to do or achieve, the better we can respond.

yes it's for a temp setup. this is a outside arena.

Well that does not help much.

Some drawings-photos-ANYTHING to give an idea of what there is to deal with would help. Things like where you can put speakers if VERY important.

It is amazing to me how many people think everybody else is a mind reader.

It's an "exploded vertical line array." Yeah, that's it! That's the ticket!

This system was done to supplement a house install that might have been okay for barrel racing, but for bull riding it didn't have enough oomph. There are 4 JBL SRX712M on each side, and upstage right were a pair of JBL SRX728 subs. XTi 6002 on the subs, I-Tech 6000 on the SoS.

First cable run to stage left side was 300'; 130' to stage right, then 60' jumpers between speakers.

Peak voltage limit on the ITech was set at 60v, long term power limiter set at 400w. I heard both working at different times, but not in a prolonged manner. All our 712 survived, based on quick listen while the walk-out music was playing... but I think one of the house speakers didn't fare as well. The TD will give it a listen tomorrow.

@ Jimmy - the announcer's booth is Rodeo Central. You need to figure out how to get your mixer in the booth and your amps wherever you can find or deliver electricity. As for what speaker system works best, I'll say our client was happy with the distributed Speakers on Sticks with the subwoofers. Without the subs it would have been wimpy and not at all what they wanted. I've done outdoor rodeos with pSeudo4 or KF850 in full range mode, covering the bleachers & stands from the booth end of the arena. Kind of rocked out a few county fair rodeos ;) I've also put out the big re-entrant Atlas and EV horns and the announcer was plainly understood, so really this is a matter of client expectations and needs. If they're cool with music sounding like a REALLY LOUD TELEPHONE, the re-entrant horns with a suitable amp will be fine. If they want more fidelity the price goes up because the system is more expensive and harder to put up where it needs to go. If they want the WWE experience, it gets really expensive, really fast. But bulls and riders are rock stars, just like pro wrestlers (and the bull rider soap operas are real, unlike the wrestling), so where there is a will and a budget, we will find a way. Figure out what your clients can pay for, first. Then figure out if you can profitably do their event for that amount.

This was a national finals, so there was a desire for some production value so we brought in some Chauvet Batten 72 Tour (12) and 4 Mac 2000. The producer liked what we did and are asking us to design his event next year. :)
