SD12 help

I have a gig coming up at a venue that’s got an SD12 and I’m pretty unfamiliar with DigiCo. I’ve used a decent mix of desks but I’m still kinda flying by the seat of my pants.

I’m gonna nip by a PA company I freelance for to mess around on a Digico before the gig, but they’ve only got either an SD9 or Quantum 326/338. Which one is most similar to the SD12?

I’m aware the SD9 is much more similar in terms of age but I’ve heard the Quantum is similar in terms of layout as it’s a direct upgrade from the SD12, but if anyone has any insight I’d love to hear it!

Also if anyone has good SD12 tutorials/advice I’d really appreciate it, especially any details on how to pull off an effects send!

P.S. I have a Mac, so I don’t think I can download the online editor.

Software wise it's going to be much more similar to the SD9, but closest to the Q326 in terms of physical layout.

They are all similar enough that once you have worked on one Digico, it's not a big stretch to jump on a different model.

VMware for Mac is free now just requiring an installable copy of Windoze to run. Pretty handy thing to have on a Mac for a variety of things. That said the editor software isn't quite as good an introduction to the DigiCo surface as say the Yamaha editors are for Yamaha consoles. Still the editor is more valuable than no time with a DigiCo.
Only thing I'd add as a very occasional user of DigiCo's is that Yamahas are audio mixing consoles designed by audio console engineers with a computer hidden inside while Digico's are computers designed by computer engineers with a thin layer of audio console wrapped around them.
