Single and Three Phase power conection questions?

Re: Single and Three Phase power conection questions?

Genuine Crouse-Hinds E1016. For less money, Leviton has the 16Dxx series. I think there are a couple other brands, too. The wire size range and insulation color are in the part number suffix.

The odd-ball connector mentioned up-thread is the E1015, or Mini-Cam. They're so cute in a "honey, I shrunk the Cam Lok" sort of way.. but you almost never see them in general technical power distribution.

Or possibly red-green colorblind...

If you have a "deficiency" - please don't touch stuff that can kill you or other people.... and don't come up with some stupid connection scheme to curb your affliction. That's like letting far sighted people hold the car's pit number sign for a race car... probably not a good idea...

FWIW - We see minicam a bit up here, probably used as a space saver (getting 5 panel mount connectors in the bottom of a knife switch disconnect), instead of a hotel doing it right and having a proper box.... it's rated to 100 amps I believe.

Re: Single and Three Phase power conection questions?

The problem is the person doing the "plugging in" is usually not the one who gets fried. It's usually the guys on the other end and/or their gear.

You don't need to tell me about that Greg... it's probably why I'm hyper-sensative about the topic. short story - I was driving home from Td'ing a show, about 13 hrs away from where I live, where I left a couple of my usual guys to do a small country fair... The electrician tied my ground tail to hot... the green tape was about 1.5 feet from the end, but because he only saw black wire, he tied ground to hot. He didn't meter the tails before passing them to my guys, my guys didn't meter the tails (why would you, a licsenced electrcian just tied them in ?) I don't know how long it was, but they let the magic white smoke out of my ls-9 32, and a dbx drive rack 480 ~ 3K out of my pocket... The electrcian, the fair board, and the promoter didn't offer a dime. Needless to say nobody touches shit until I've checked the power myself. I just metered my tails right after the electrician did last week. He told me he just did it, I said "ya, I know"... and did it anyway.
